Stop The Snow!

The woman in the middle was picketing the local TV newscast with a sign that said "STOP THE SNOW!"
Amen, sister.

Ski jump.

Bush Lake Ski Jump, as seen from Mt. Normandale Lake.
I had some time to kill before a meeting in Bloomington this evening, so I stopped at a nearby park. It amuses me whenever I see this ski jump out in the middle of the suburbs.

Last gasps of winter?

A fast-moving snowstorm rolled through, dropping big lazy flakes that thankfully melted off almost as fast as they arrived. Spring is coming...

Procrastination.

I dread moving all that snow.

Ambulance.

I got lucky and happened to have my camera handy when an ambulance passed by my studio early Thursday morning.

Blizzard Of The Century

The local weather prognosticators have been in a tizzy the last two days straight with The Blizzard Of The Century bringing the four horsemen of the apocalypse down upon Minneapolis. I'd estimate that 10" landed on our neighborhood.

Impending doom.

The local news is all atwitter about the upcoming snow apocalypse. The clouds are playing the part, even if the snow hasn't arrived yet.

Surprise snowfall.

I hadn't heard a weather forecast and didn't look out the window as I was getting ready this morning, so I was completely taken by surprise when I opened the front door to find snow on the sidewalk.

Screw the cold.

I'm not sure why, but it seemed like a good evening to go for a walk around the neighborhood. I'm tired of the cold weather, but I'm even more tired of being stuck inside. So I went out.

In other news, the Iceholes won tonight! It was a little bit of a hollow victory, since the other team was missing a player - but hey, it counts.

Uninspired.

I was tired and completely uninspired, so I settled for a self portrait shot in the afternoon's light snowfall (and you thought I had bad dandruff).

Broomball.

Last night was the Iceholes' third game of the season, and it was also our third loss. We put in a good effort though, and kept the game close. Still managed to have a lot of fun.

Headin' home.

We hit the road for home Sunday afternoon, took us about 5 hours to do the 250 mile trip, with a stop for lunch mixed in.
Typical January Minnesota day - overcast, cold, and a little bit of snow.

Lutsen, Day 2

Surprisingly, we managed to get out of the cabin Friday morning and made the trip up to the ski lodge at Lutsen. This panoramic was shot off the lodge's balcony, overlooking the slopes and Lake Superior in the background (click image for larger version).
Note: click on over to my Flickr account and the "365" album for the mondo huge version of this image. It has a few technical errors, but I still think it looks pretty cool.

Roadtrip + Snow = Hmm. (edited)
This is what it looks like out the window at work right now:

10 degrees F and snowing at the moment. Melba and I have a 250 mile drive ahead of us this evening (to Lutsen, MN) which might prove to be interesting if the snow keeps up.
I'm posting this pic now, but I may replace it later if I come across anything exciting.

EDIT:
I did come across something more exciting. We made it to the cabin well before midnight, and I shot this a few minutes before midnight:

This was only the start of the weekend's debauchery. Mmm... debauchery.

Iceholes!

Tonight was the first game of the Iceholes' 2007 broomball season. Despite the bitter cold (2 degrees F), and a pretty lopsided defeat, we had fun.

Snow.
I volunteered to chase cones for another driving school today, and on my way home this evening it started to snow. This is my attempt to sum up the high points of my day in one image.

And one more photo I shot the night of the 31st:

Quick note - I'm also mirroring these daily shots to Flickr so that any photo geeks out there can go see the EXIF data. Link on the right.
