It's the little things...

...that make me happy. Lately, I've noticed that my friends and a few of my cow-orkers have started using my favorite nickname for my previous employer.

Yesterday, I overheard a cow-orker's conversation: "Yeah, I stopped at Machinery, Inc. for just two items last night, but I can never get out of there for less than $100."

Ah, so happy. Maybe if I use the name enough, it'll start to stick.

Friday night excitement!

I live next door to a pet food store. Next door to the store on the other side is a big parking lot belonging to an odd, cult-ish church. Culturch is having some sort of Friday night shindig, and cars from their parking lot overfloweth into the pet food store's parking lot.

The pet food store towed six of the cult-goers cars, and I've got a great second-floor view of the hyjinks that will ensue when Culturch lets out and the cultists discover their missing cars.

Is it bad that I derive such glee from this?

A few months ago, I applied the Creative Commons license to my entire Flickr library. Ever since, I've gotten an email every week or two from random folks out there on the intarweb asking if they can use one of my photos in a publication. The fine folks at Schmap are the latest peeps to use one of my photos. If you wait long enough for the Schmapplet widget above, you'll see one of my pics of the Mill City Museum.

Smashing Pumpkins - Cherub Rock

Off the 1993 album Siamese Dream
Siamese Dream is one of the best rock albums ever created. Unfortunately, I haven't liked anything Smashing Pumpkins has done since. But damn... this is a hell of an album. Those first few dainty little notes of Cherub Rock followed by the goddamn aural guitar assault just knocked me off my ass the first time I heard it.

Weddings, kids, etc. etc.

In the last three weeks, two friends have gotten married, and two have had kids, with a third due soon.

Nope, still not interested in either one.

I'm bringing sexy back behind the barn and beating its ass.

Anyone who knows me can tell you that my fashion sense runs no farther than solid color t-shirts and jeans in the winter, board shorts in the summer. Many times I've thought about how it'd be cool to be a snappy dresser, but then when I go as far as shopping for snappy clothes, I realize that:

1. I wouldn't know snappy if it slapped me.
2. I can't afford to shop in places that sell snappy.

So I continue to rock the t-shirts and jeans. Hell, I don't even know what brands of jeans are popular right now - I've been a Levis 501 man for so long. And the cool t-shirts I have were all bought for me by other people.

I have zero fashion sense, is what I'm tryin' to say. I'm okay with that, to a certain extent - I'm not lookin' to go metro - but I wouldn't mind being a teeny bit hipper than I am in the clothing department.

So much to say

...but so few words. I've got a lot going on these days. Plenty of blog fodder in my life. Yet somehow, I can't find words to describe or express any of it here.

I'm tryin', people. Don't give up on me just yet.
