Oh lord. Note the improper use of quotation marks. I think you'd be within your rights to spray as much silly string as you want, seeing as it's only "illegal," and not actually ILLEGAL, and there's only a "fine" involved.
This is silly.
Silly String should be capitalized in the sign. It's a trademark.

What about businesses that sell it in Hollywood? Do they have to move it out of Hollywood? The law is clear, possession is a crime. So, even if the store puts it away so no one can buy it, they still possess it.

Ooo! And 6 MONTHS in jail. Now that's fair punishment. How do they "discard" of it? Throw it in a nearby trashcan? Then once the cops leave, they retrieve it. Do they drop it where they're standing? That's littering. Do the cops confiscate it? Can it be recycled?
I thought it was a prank due to the incorrect use of quotes (to me, the fine & illegal are not real- going only by that sign).
What if I have Silly String at 11:50pm on 10/30 and have all of it dispensed by 11:59pm? If I'm holding an empty can, a can, which can produce not one millimeter more of Silly String at 12:01am, will that land me in the pokey?

I just may come out there and see if I can get Silly String banned for the other 363.5 days. Or, I'll just stay here in MN and use all of the Silly String I want on Halloween. I may make it a new tradition, in honor of LAMC 56.02. I'm fully expecting the rabble rousers to find a different day to use their Silly String.
