More songs about buildings and food
The weather was extra pleasant yesterday afternoon, so before I caught a bus home I strolled around downtown a little bit with my camera. One of my favorite buildings is Marquette Plaza, which used to be the Minneapolis Federal Reserve Bank. I like it because its the largest structure of its kind; the center section is supported by cables that hang down from the two ends, much like a suspension bridge.
Back when the Federal Reserve occupied the building, there was a two story gap between the landscape and the start of the center section of the building, which emphasized the unique construction. The new owners filled that part in back in 2002 after the feds moved out.
The Minneapolis Public Library is one of the newest buildings downtown, and I could probably spend a day photographing it from all angles. I quickly ran out of sunlight, but got a couple of decent shots before it got too dark:

I love the pics of the architecture. Keep em comin.
Thanks for the pics . . . your second one of the library is especially stunning! I'll bet you could sell it to the people who try to get people to live or work in Minneapolis!
Hey, on a totally unrelated note, have you tried the chicken pot pie at the restaurant in that old, beautiful hotel in St. Paul? If not, I hope you do!
Thanks for the kudos! Coming from you, I'm quite flattered.
Hmm... old beautiful hotel in St. Paul? I may have to do a little research on that. I love a good chicken pot pie.
I'll save you the research, DJ . . . it's the Saint Paul Grill at the Saint Paul Hotel (I had to Google to remind myself). Fabulous!
The chicken pot pie at the St. Paul Grill is very very good. I was just there for dinner and that happens to be what I ordered.
I haven't been over to Mpls. in so long. The new library is gorgeous. I'll have to head over there. I guess it's true what they say, if you are a St. Paul person you never go to Minneapolis and visa versa.
